Theatre in the Community

Thanks to the Saskatchewan Arts Board, Sum Theatre has been the Artist in Residence in the community of Nutana since of September 2015!

We interviewed ONE HUNDRED stakeholders in Nutana about what they'd like to see in their community.

We shared these thoughts with the community in the form of song, poetry and verbatim plays at an event called Nutana Talks and community members voted on their favourite ideas. The art and community building events we created during our residency were a direct result of these conversations and votes.

We helped found the Nutana Winterludes Festival, a fun, interactive winter time festival featuring Theatre on the Rink.  Other projects include Gramma Drama  (a free drama class for kids and seniors), Playwright in a Shop (real time playwriting in Broadway Avenue storefronts), the Pop Up plays (written during Playwright in a Shop), and a yoga/drama block party.

Join us to celebrate the end of our residency, and the beginning of a long friendship, at "Nutana Talked." May 4th at 7pm at The Better Good.
