Regina Youth Engagement Series

The Regina Youth Engagement Series is a new initiative that aims to strengthen Sum Theatre’s connection within Regina communities. In 2019, Sum Theatre toured our Theatre In The Park project to Regina, sharing community-minded accessible theatre to underserved communities across the city. Thanks to City of Regina funding, 2021 saw the introduction of the Regina Youth Engagement Series, further supporting relationships and connection within the communities we tour.

The series offers free workshops and creative activities to youth and looks to reflect and respond to each community’s unique needs and interests. Multidisciplinary in nature, youth are exposed to theatre, film, dance, and art. These creative models of engagement support self-confidence, communication skills, and social connection. Workshops encourage participants to embrace cooperation, diversity, and inclusion.

The Regina Youth Engagement Series was pleased to partner with the Regina Open Door Society this past summer to run a four-day camp for newcomer youth. We are thankful for all the community organizations and program partners that support our current 2021 fall programming in the Heritage, Whitmore Park, North Central, and Dewdney East communities.
