SUM Theatre COVID-19 Vaccine Policy

1.0 PREAMBLE


The purpose of this policy is to ensure a safe and healthy environment for
employees and patrons by preventing the spread of the novel coronavirus, COVID-
19, by way of vaccination and/or testing.
This policy is subject to change, pending updates from the guidelines of the relevant health authorities.


2.0 STATEMENT OF COMMITMENT


Sum Theatre is committed to providing a safe, positive work environment where everyone is treated
with respect and dignity.
Sum Theatre, its employees, contractors, and its patrons will abide by COVID-19 safety measures
detailed by the Government of Saskatchewan and the facilities within which Sum Theatre
programming takes place.


3.0 LEGAL FRAMEWORK


This policy is aligned with the employer’s general duty under Current Provincial Public Health Orders, The
Public Health Act, 1994, The Occupational Health and Safety Act, the Saskatchewan Employment Act and
other legislation and corresponding regulations.
We aim to take every reasonable precaution to protect its workers and the responsibility to assess the
workplace for risks, including that of COVID-19 transmission.


4.0 DEFINITIONS


Fully Vaccinated individuals are those who have received two doses (or at least 1 dose of the
Janssen/Johnson & Johnson vaccine) of a vaccination series approved by Health Canada or the
World Health Organization. The second dose of a vaccine must have been administered a
minimum of two weeks prior to the current date.
Proof of Vaccination is the documentation of a completed vaccination series provided by the
Saskatchewan Health Authority or other provincial health body. Acceptable forms of
documentation include one of either: SHA (or other provincial body) vaccination card provided at
time of vaccination, QR code on the SK Vax Wallet application (or other provincially-designated
proof of vaccination application), or a printed off copy of one’s eHealth Saskatchewan
MySaskHealthRecord vaccination record. Proof of vaccination must be accompanied by a piece
of government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s license

5.0 PROOF OF VACCINATION OR NEGATIVE TEST


All employees and contractors must be fully vaccinated (see definition) upon their first day of
employment or in order to perform services on behalf of Sum Theatre. If an employee or contractor is not
fully vaccinated at the start of their employment period, they must provide a negative test result according
to the guidelines (below) until such time that they meet the definition of fully vaccinatedAll employees and contractors must provide proof of vaccination (see definition) no later than their first
date of employment.
Current employees must provide proof of their vaccination status on or before December 1st 2021.
All patrons will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative test (if permitted by the facility)
upon arrival.
Employees providing negative test results in lieu of proof of vaccination will provide a negative test
result weekly at minimum, at the employee’s own expense.
Contractors providing negative test results in lieu of proof of vaccination will provide a negative test
result within 48 hours of beginning the contract, at the contractor’s own expense. For contracts lasting
longer than one week, must test negative weekly at employee’s own expense.


6.0 EXCEPTIONS TO THE POLICY


Where an employee, contractor, or patron requests an exemption to this policy, the Board may provide an
exemption, as determined by the Board in its sole discretion. In making a determination, the Board will
consider the reasons provided by the requesting party, including any documented legal grounds for such
exemption.


7.0 PRIVACY STATEMENT


Sum Theatre will preserve the confidentiality of vaccination status of all individuals involved in
Sum Theatre programming.


8.0 DATA COLLECTION


Employees’ and contractors’ vaccination records, including only their full name and dates of vaccinations
will be stored in a password-protected online database accessible only to the Producer and Artistic
Director and the Board.. For employees providing a negative test, only the most recent negative test date
submitted will be on file.
Patrons’ vaccination data will not be stored.


9.0 NON-COMPLIANCE CONSEQUENCES


For employees and contractors, consequences for non compliance will follow Sum Theatre’s progressive
discipline policy.
Patrons who do not comply with this policy will be refused admittance to the venue.


10.0 EFFECTIVE DATE(S)


This policy takes effect immediately, as of October 27, 2021
